As you visit the Basilica, you'll have the opportunity to reflect on the miraculous events surrounding the apparitions, including the imprint of the Virgin Mary's image on Saint Juan Diego’s tilma, which is preserved in the shrine to this day. - The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe complex includes several chapels, each with its own unique history and significance. One of the most prominent structures in the complex is the New Basilica (Basilica de la Virgen de Guadalupe), completed in 1976. This modern, circular building was designed to accommodate the large number of pilgrims who visit the site each year. Inside, the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe is displayed in an elevated altar, allowing visitors to view the miraculous tilma from nearly every angle. The New Basilica offers a vibrant atmosphere for prayer and reflection, particularly during religious ceremonies and celebrations, making it a central place of worship and devotion within the complex.
